Literature Text

I, DokuDoki, promised you before two episodes that I'll write about this one - how should look your Slovakia OC. Not long ago I saw some OC, who looked like black guy, but he was NOT - just melanistic (note: opposite of albino). I wrote in comments that isn't the right approach, and another guy told me that I'm a racist. I'm not! I just think that good APH OC should be average of people in his nation. Would you made, I don't know, Zimbabwe as albino?! Oh well.

Radšej začnime.

-----

So, I chose categories HEAD and BODY, because on separate head are important features of look - eyes, hair and face. On body I'll use other things and clothes.

HEAD

EYES

Always when I'm watching somewhere on Slovak server "Eye color and personality traits", there are four main colours - brown, blue, green and sometimes grey.
I think you can use any shades of these colour, or mixes of them, like browngreen or bluegreen. But as APH fan if you want some symbolism behind it, I told you:

-since Poland is our brother, you can made Slovakia's eyes same green. Also Hungary has green eyes, and because Slovakia was long time under her rule, this is another reason why is green eyecolor good choice. There are also lots of forests in Slovakia, and Slovaks generaly love nature.

-blue is (un)official single national color of Slovakia (official is tricolor white-blue-red). Look at our football or hockey dresses. And on flag of Czechoslovakia
(note: today has same flag Czech Republic) that blue triangle meaned Slovakia. Water is blue (actually isn't, lol), and in Slovakia are lots of rivers, and biggest natural drinking water supplies in Central Europe.

-why brown eyecolor? Actually I don't know. Brown is warm color, it can be sign of (hidden) nice and pleasant personality of your character, or reference to lots of the use of wood in Slovak history (houses, tools, utility things, trees, logging, decorations,...)

-eye color in grey can has lots of symbolism behind it. From rocky High Tatras to forgotten memories.

HAIR

The most common haircolors in Slovakia are blond, brown and black. Sometimes also auburn, for women (men less). There is only one rule - skin is almost always light. From porcelain to peachy. But I think the most common is healthy pinkish.

Hairstyle is usually easy to care for, when you're male. You can chose the most common shorcut (like Russia or Finland), but in APH some characters have a longer hair (like Lithuania or Poland), and even my uncle and some male classmates have it. So it's also good choice.
Female has lot of choices of hairstyles, but I told you - long hair are very popular! Next is usually shoulder lenght. I don't know lot of women with shortcut, but it's your OC.
Oh, and men has usually straight hair. Women are straight (especially when their hair are dark) and wavy.

And about ahoge (something like Italy's curl) - you can use it, but you don't have to. If you want to call it, the best choise is in my opinion some peak. Slovaks are proud of their mountains, especially on Tatras. I'll write to you some known peaks in Slovakia:
Gerlachovský štít (or shortly Gerlach), Kriváň, Chopok, Poľana, Ďumbier, Sitno, Lomnický štít (colloquially Lomničák)

Do you want some help by me? OK. Gerlach is highest peak in Slovakia (and in all Carpathians). Lomnický štít was though about it. Poľana is biggest (extinct) volcano in Slovakia. Ďumbier (means ginger) is highest peak of Low Tatras. On Chopok is famous ski resort (note: word "Chopok" sounds similar to Slovak word "chlp", which means "hair on the body"). About Sitno are lots of rumors and legends. And Kriváň (means croocked) is considered as national peak of Slovakia, it is even on our euros.

FACE

I don't want too much limit you, but I'll give you some tips, just for inspiration, if you have not any idea. Of course, you don't have to use all of them:
Poker face. It looks like nothing can unsettle him(her), no matter what are you doing, and although (s)he can be very angry, (s)he's acting like (s)he isn't.
Red cheekes. Sign of healthy, or of people who are happy, ashamed, angry, heat or just cried. Sign of almost each people.
Smile. It's not true that some people never smile. It can be very light smile, when no one is looking or when he didn't realize it, for example during of sleep. Or it can be huge smile, full of joy of life. But always honest smile.
Big eyes. Lots of people have them. Especially when the eye collor is light.
Abstracted expression. Maybe (s)he's listening, although it looks like (s)he isn't, or (s)he really isn't listening.
Melancholic expression. Slovak history was somewhat tragic(omic) and unfair.

BODY

PHYSIQUE

Google told me that average height of 30 year Slovak is 171 cm (5' 7") and weight 73 kg (160 lbs). You can make him(her) taller or shorter, as you want. For example, I'm girl and I'm sixteen, and I'm 176 cm (5' 9") tall, but my mum and one male classmate have just 164 cm (5' 4").

SCARS

Yay, some bloody tips!

EDIT:
Most of people think that Slovakia always lived well. Specific for the most violent periods of Slovak history is that they don't look that bad or important for other nations. Slovakia just avoided from the worst known historical events, such as direct Ottoman occupation or connection to The Third Reich.

Of course, you can, but don't have to give to your OC scars.

The most important violent periods in Slovak history that could leave a scars:
- raids of the Avars in 6th - 7th century
- attacks of the Frankish Empire in 9th century
- attacks of the Old Magyars in 9th - 10th century
- raids of the Tartars in 13th century
- invasions of the Ottomans in 16th - 17th century
- magyarization in 18th - 20th century
- WW1 and WW2 in 20th century
- communism rule in 20th century

Some specific events that could leave the scars:
- connection to Hungaria in 10th century (note: unknown the exact date)
- Revolution in the Kingdom of Hungary in 1848
- Černová massacre in 1907
- separation from Austria-Hungary in 1918
- Vienna Arbitration in 1938
- Little War (or Slovak-Hungarian War) in 1939
- Slovak National Uprising in 1944
- reprisals of Germans (Nazis) after Slovak National Uprising in 1944
- invasion of the Warshaw Pact Troops in 1968

About reprisals after SNU: 90 villages were burned, because their inhabitants cooperated with partisans. Most of them were rebuilded, one of the exceptions is village Kalište.
Probably the most known are three cases:
1. Tokajík tragedy - all men from village were killed, except two who luckily survived. Women and children were dispersed and village burned. After war it was rebuilded.
2. Kalište tragedy - Nazis brutally killed everyone who crossed their way and burned village. There stayed 6 houses, in which were hiding survivors (58 families) for seven days. Village was not rebuilded and today it's memorable place of SNU.
3. Nemecká tragedy - because there was a lime factory, in its limekiln were executed around 400-900 people. Today there is a monument.

What kind of and how many scar/s should you use? If you want to make a scar for one single event (for example Černová massacre), use only one scar, a big one, or one small on the visible place (neck, arm etc.), and I recommend gash or significant burn. If you want to give to your OC more scars for one specific period (I recommend magyarization), you have more options - cuts, burns, bruises which do not dissapear,...

Where should scar/s be? If you chose one smaller scar, use visible place, such a face, neck, arm, hand or other. One big scar should be significant, but not noticeable at first sight, try to use back, chest, belly or place something like that. For couple of scars don't use places that are unusual for person who was often beaten. Try back, shoulders, scapulas or hips.

For example, for my Slovakia OC I chose left arm, shoulder and partially scapula and it's non-significant bruising that leaved on him magyarization, Černová massacre, Vienna Arbitration and Little War. It's not significant, because most of his real scars are on his soul.

CLOTHES

Hm... I'll write this as APH fan, OK? Let's star from beggining.

Born/Young ages: my OC is shoud to lightbrown cape. I chose it because no one from Hetalia have it yet. You can use woolen shirt, cape or maybe shirt and trousers?
Child: you can use, I don't know, shirt, belt, apron and trousers? For example my OC has white shirt with belt, darkbrown trousers, black boots and lightbrown cape, same as when he was young, but just tied around shoulders.
Teenage: Here you can use traditional slovak kroj. Slovaks are proud on their traditions, so it's good choice. There are so many kroje... just write to Images Google "slovak kroj" and choose something xD
Czechoslovakia ages: first still kroj, later replaced to urban clothes. For example shirt, trousers with braces and coat.
Nowadays: Eh, for everyday clothing? Try anything! If you have female OC, I reccomend to use traditional folk features.
Uniform: I waste a lot of time finding slovak military uniform! This sentence is from episode PROFILE EXAMPLE: He wears a uniform consisting from pale green shirt with short sleeves and dark epaulettes, dark brown trousers taped with duct tape on his thighs and calves (it's because they torned there, and he was too lazy to sew it, lol) and black boots. Pictures of uniform are in description.
